I was born to a family of sailors and became a long-distance singlehanded sailor who then lived in a cabin in the woods of Alaska. I have been on a lifelong quest to see the world from a different perspective, with a camera usually close-by since working in a photo-lab in high school. Frequent seclusion encouraged studies in metaphysics, meditation, psychology and spirituality fostering a strong personal understanding of shifting realities and the way the mind processes imagery. With a growing imagination I have focused on photographing scenes in nature, usually involving water, of raw patterns, contrast, colors and textures that stimulate the mind in a deeper, subconscious way viscerally connecting us to the natural world around us.

Traveling by boat enables me to access the remarkable wonders of the Salish Sea such as the fantasyland of sandstone formations in the San Juan/Gulf Islands and the majestic fiord of Princess Louisa.

For me photographing nature is a wonder-full way to be in the world, full of anticipation and joy. It is a quest for beauty, a search for things visually interesting and amazing and a gateway to revealing the treasures, often hiding in plain sight, within our natural playground.
